Jonathan has a unique voice which he complements using a variety of instruments: celtic harp, piano accordion, guitar, reed organ and penny whistle.
His repertoire is drawn from celtic roots, and his interpretations have a depth of spirit which bring a powerful clarity to both traditional and contemporary songs alike.
While in Canada, Jonathan was inspired to take up music when he heard Loreena McKennitt perform at the Mariposa Folk Festival.
Soon after, he travelled to a remote island community on Canada's West Coast where he spent four years developing his singing voice and learning the various musical instruments he had collected.
Jonathan found himself drawn to the songs and music from his celtic
roots. He has now returned to his homeland and lives in
West Malvern perched on the Malvern Hills. For
several years Jonathan has played piano accordion with Flat
World - performing Eastern European roots and acoustic
music. He has recently (April 2006) started to focus on
songs accompanied with the harp. Current musical
collaborators are Martin
Solomon (violin) and Angela Cranmore
(bass viol) who add a compelling richness to the
songs. |
