Drums

This 15" Drum is genuinely Native American made with a Cedar Frame, and naturally bleached white (not painted) raw hide, with traditional 4 Winds, 4 Directions Lacing. It is blessed in ceremony before leaving America, and sent with a bag of herbs so that you may create your own ceremony when you receive your drum.

It has a warm solid sound and comes with a traditional style beater with a Buckskin head that is packed with Buffalo hair, Sage and Tobacco.

This type of drum usually retails at around £150 -

I have them available for just £100 including postage.

Commissioned piece

Your drums may be hand painted with original designs suited to your own requirements. The cost of this will vary depending on the design, starting from £30 for a simple design.

Most designs are one-offs and signed by Evelyn Whitebear.

Ocean Drums

Ocean Drum or ‘Chaal’

Ocean drums are 14” wide, with a depth of about 3”. They are traditionally made by stretching hide over a round hoop or a hexagonal frame. Those made in Nepal are called ‘chaal’, which simply translates as ocean drum. The ocean drum is made by stretching sheep hide across both sides of the frame. Small pellets or ball bearings a placed inside the drum, so that when the drum is rocked gentle, the moving balls recreate the sound of the ocean. Ocean drums are often hand painted, though you can buy plain ones and paint your own meaningful design onto them.
